End of the Year – Student Discipline Reports

December 22, 2011, Voices of Youth in Chicago Education (“VOYCE”) and the Advancement Project requested, under the Illinois Freedom of Information Act, Illinois school district discipline data (ie, suspensions, expulsions, arrests, etc.) disaggregated by race, gender, SES, disability, grade level, and etc. The Illinois State Board of Education (“ISBE”) responded December 30, 2011 and again on January 19, 2012 and the annual district end of the year discipline reports are posted on the ISBE website for years 2009 , 2010 , and 2011 .

12-0222- ED4: Monthly Report on Student Expulsions for January 2012
• In January, 42 students were expelled from school. There have been 166 expulsions since August 1, 2011. At the end of January 2011, CPS had expelled 290 schoolchildren [Board Report:11-0223-ED1]. Last school year CPS expelled 416 schoolchildren [Board Report 11-0824-ED1].
