The Chicago Board of Education/Chicago Public Schools Citywide NCLB Title 1 Parent Involvement Advisory Board (“PIAB”) generally holds meetings at least four times a year. Under the Illinois FOIA, a request was submitted to the Chicago Board of Education for copies of the most recent PIAB meeting minutes. On February 15, 2011, the Chicago Board of Education FOIA officer wrote:

“Please note, on June 30, 2009, the Board of Education approved two PIAB meetings held December 9, 2008, and March 10, 2009. Since that time there has not been a quorum of the PIAB present at any meetings.”

Absent a quorum, the PIAB has been unable to take action on any items, including the approval of minutes, for more than 20 months. The most recent PIAB meeting was held on March 8, 2011. The next regular meeting is scheduled for May 10, 2011.
